Independent golf coach and YouTube reviewer Steve Johnston recently put the Spoiler putter through a series of on-course and launch monitor tests to see whether our zero-loft, leading-edge technology delivers on its promise of earlier, truer roll.
Steve began by explaining the concept behind the design: traditional putters add loft that can cause the ball to skid before it begins rolling. Spoiler's zero-loft leading edge is designed to contact the equator of the golf ball, reducing skid and getting the ball into pure roll sooner.
To test the theory, Steve compared Spoiler against his own gamer using TrackMan. His results showed a noticeable reduction in skid distance with the Spoiler, supporting what he could already see on the green. He also commented on something unexpected—you can actually hear the difference. The ball begins gripping the turf earlier, creating a distinct sound that reflects the earlier roll.
Perhaps the biggest surprise for Steve was how forgiving the putter felt. Although he expected mishits to be heavily penalized, he found the putter consistently produced excellent roll across a variety of distances, including long putts.
His final verdict was clear: "It's not a gimmick." Steve praised the looks, feel, craftsmanship, and, most importantly, the performance. In his words, the technology simply outperformed his traditional blade, and if he were putting one in play, the Spoiler would earn the spot in the bag.
