Does Your Putter Put Backspin on the Ball? (Yes. It Does.)

I took a lot of flack for that Instagram post during the Masters.

A lot of you told me I was wrong. Some of you agreed. Either way it got me thinking I owed a better explanation.

So I shot this video.

The slow motion footage shows what's actually happening the moment a standard putter hits the ball. Loft on the face launches it slightly into the air and applies backspin. That backspin has to burn off before the ball starts rolling forward. That's why putts die.

It's the whole reason we built Lead Edge Roll. To eliminate that. Pure forward roll right off the face.

Sad reality? It's been happening on every putt you've ever hit.

Let's Roll,

Dan

Looks like a great time to try your putter

I was using your putter for a little over a month.
I definitely like the feel when you hit the ball. For me personally I like a heavier putter. Unlike other putters you change the weights on
the bottom to make it heavier. You cant on your putter. Im sure I changed it aittle by putting 2 strips of lead tap on top of each other on the bottem to give it extra weight.
It still doesn’t work for me. I think the feel is great but I need to be making .ore putts so I went back to my old putter .

purchased one of your putters when it first popped up on Instagram was definitely the first one that I have seen on Maui… I get tons of comments you’re putting with a wedge. It’s got too much over spin on it. It changes your stroke… As long as I’m getting a chatter, I know that they’re interested… Love it.

Been using the spoiler putter since it was released and able to order one, absolutely love it, went back just recently to my ping redwood putter for only 2 rounds had 38 and 37 putts, put the spoiler back in and had 31 putts just love this putter 👍
